Byrrh Cellars
Exceptional Chateaus & Castles
Our history
It was in 1866, in Thuir, that Simon Violet developed a "tonic and hygienic wine" based on quinine . A visionary, he set up his first cellars in this small town in the Pyrénées-Orientales.
In 1873, the Byrrh brand was officially registered, marking the beginning of a family and industrial saga that would achieve meteoric success in France and internationally. This beverage, prized for both its medicinal properties and its unique taste , quickly became one of the most popular aperitifs of its time.
“Excessive alcohol consumption is dangerous for your health.”
