Our history
A former fortified fiefdom, the Château de Breuil-Yvain, whose origins date back to 1236, is laid out in a square plan, surrounded by a double moat. Access is controlled by a gatehouse with two pepperpot-roofed towers, built in 1450 by Yvain de Tiont, Lord of Breuil and the Marches of Orsennes, upon his return from an overseas voyage where he had accompanied King Charles VII.
The current main building, renovated in the 19th century, dates primarily from the 17th and 18th centuries. The outbuildings date from the 17th century. In 1972, the château hosted the filming of the television film Mauprat, directed by Jacques Tréboutat.
