Our history

Built on the site of an ancient Gallic oppidum, the Château de Bressuire is one of the most unique examples of medieval military architecture in France. A powerful testament to local history, it overlooks the town from its promontory, offering an impressive setting that blends imposing ruins with the surrounding nature. Owned by the town since 1975 and listed as a Historical Monument in 1996, the site now comes alive with exhibitions, concerts, and festive and cultural events that bring its ancient stones to life throughout the year.
