Our history
Located 15 km from the A36 motorway exit at L'Isle-sur-le-Doubs, Belvoir, built in the 12th century on a fortified hilltop settlement in the Sequani region and overlooking the Sancey Valley, is one of the few remaining examples of the feudal period. Visitors can admire beautiful furniture, antique weapons, 17th-century paintings (including a portrait of Béatrix de Cusance, Duchess of Lorraine, by Van Dyck), as well as collections of works by the painter Pierre Joufffroy, owner and restorer of the château since 1955.
Open from Easter to October 30th on Sundays and public holidays. Open daily in July and August from 10 am to 12 pm and from 2 pm to 6 pm (last entry at 11:30 am and 5:30 pm). The interior tour lasts 45 to 60 minutes.
