Barly Castle

Begun around 1780 on the site of a former manor house, the construction of the main building was completed in 1784, when the interior work began. This was finished around 1794, along with the construction of the farmyard, the large dovecote, and the chapel.
The product of the taste and vision of the Blin de Barly family, this ensemble in pure Louis XVI style is of exceptional architectural quality and has survived in a remarkably authentic state. This fact, so rare in France, deserves to be highlighted, particularly in a region devastated by two world wars. Specialist historians agree on the originality, quality, and beauty of the buildings and interior decorations, the entire complex having been listed as a Historical Monument since 1971.

Located on the same axis as the castle, the nave and façade of the village church were rebuilt at the very beginning of the 19th century in the same style as the manor house, in order to harmoniously close the vista.
