Our history
Edmond Rostand (1868-1918), a major playwright of the Belle Époque, is famous for his works such as Cyrano de Bergerac , L'Aiglon , Chantecler , Les Romanesques , La Samaritaine and Les Musardises .
In 1900, suffering from pleurisy, he discovered Cambo-les-Bains to seek treatment. Charmed by the climate and the landscapes, he chose to build his residence there . Based on the plans of the architect Joseph-Albert Tournaire, the sumptuous Villa Arnaga was thus created, its construction completed in 1906.
Inspired by both the Neo-Basque style and classical residences, Arnaga is much more than a house: it is a complete work of art. Decorated by numerous renowned artists , it opens onto magnificent French and English gardens, meticulously designed and maintained.
Today, Arnaga is a memorial site dedicated to Edmond Rostand, classified as a historical monument, and one of the heritage jewels of the region.
