Description :

The Château de La Vigne , built around 1480, rests on the remains of a Merovingian castrum and a fortress dating back to the year 1000, now in ruins. Its main façade and the L-shaped wing , dating from the 18th century, reveal the extent of its modernization, with the addition of windows and a south-facing wing. From the French-style terrace, enjoy exceptional views of the Cantal Mountains .

The tour begins with the grand spiral staircase , which leads to the Hall of Justice located at the top of the square tower. It was here that the Lords of Scorailles dispensed justice. You will discover 16th-century frescoes and murals depicting hunting scenes and a decor inspired by the Italian Renaissance.

The Troubadour Room , meanwhile, immerses you in a striking medieval atmosphere. Featuring wood paneling , a coffered ceiling , stained glass windows , and period furniture, this room evokes the visit of the juggler Christophe Malivoir and his troupe of actors in 1486.

The former great Gothic hall , 15 meters long and 5 meters high, was divided in 1750 to create a dining room and a living room. These two elegant spaces are adorned with painted wood paneling and oak sideboards , adding a touch of refinement to the whole.

A hexagonal chapel , located at the base of the south tower, is decorated with paintings dating from the late 15th century , whose vault offers a remarkable visual spectacle.

Finally, don't miss the Miniature Car Show , which presents a rare collection of 3,000 miniature cars and antique toy cars. Installed in the former ramparts over 200 m², this collection, comprised of 50 display cases , includes tin toys from the 1920s and 1930s, Dinky Toys , and many other scale models, ranging from Formula 1 cars to fire engines , as well as military and sporting themes.

Groups are welcome for an enriching and unique visit through the history and exceptional collections of the castle.
