The medieval fortress of Talmont immerses you in the history of the Middle Ages, with medieval reenactments throughout the summer. You can meet troubadours and peasants , and experience the Middle Ages through various activities. These reenactments allow visitors to understand and experience the customs and traditions of this fascinating era.
Opening hours and prices for visits:
Talmont Castle is open every day :
- From April 7 to May 3 (excluding weekends) , from 10:30 am to 6:00 pm .
- From May 4th to July 6th (and weekends) , from 10:30 am to 12:30 pm and from 2 pm to 6 pm . Exceptionally closed on June 25th.
- From July 7th to August 29th , from 10:30 am to 7 pm .
- From August 30 to September 28 , from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. and from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m.
- From October 18th to November 2nd , from 2pm to 8pm .
- From September 19th to December 21st , Christmas Market from 5pm .
The castle is also open all year round for groups by reservation .

Talmont Castle
Talmont Saint Hilaire Today, in the heart of the town, the castle was built around a Romanesque church around 1050. Its vast enclosure, made of pebbles, testifies to its close relationship with the sea. Richard the Lionheart, Prince of Talmont, regularly stayed in the Talmont region, where he appreciated its forests, its wine, and its mild maritime climate.

1000 years of history await you. Each season brings its own special activity: the King's Ransom (a fun activity for children), where you can complete challenges to collect the King's Ransom (daily except during the summer).
In the summer, experience life in the time of Richard the Lionheart: short plays, costumes, calligraphy, crossbow shooting...
In the evening, a nighttime stroll will surprise you at every turn.
