Careil Castle – Cultural Tours

The Château de Careil, an architectural gem, invites you to discover its heritage from multiple perspectives. Admire its 16th-century façade at night, offering an impressive light show. The château's main courtyard and 14th-century façade provide a fascinating overview, while the Guard Room , which leads to the Renaissance wing, immerses you in the château's history.

The grand salon, offering a unique panoramic view, is another major point of interest in the castle. From there, you can also admire architectural details such as the shell-shaped dormer windows and pilasters of the Renaissance façade.

The ramparts walk offer breathtaking views across the entire estate. Throughout the year, the castle also offers a variety of activities for children and families, such as interactive tours and candlelight shows for a unique and immersive experience.

Opening hours and prices:

From the beginning of June to the end of August, every day of the week. Departures from the courtyard at 11:00 AM, 2:00 PM, 3:30 PM, and 5:00 PM. Duration: 55 minutes

Outside of peak season, visits are organized by appointment.

Prices:

  • Individual Rates: Adults (over 12 years): 6 euros; Children (5 to 12 years): 5 euros
  • Group Rates: Adults (over 12 years): 5 euros; Children (5 to 12 years): 4.50 euros

Located between La Baule and Guérande, the Château de Careil showcases the evolution of Breton architecture from the late 14th century (wall-walk) to the 16th century (dormer windows with shells and pilasters).

A Protestant stronghold in the 16th century, the château served as a place for preaching.

Inhabited year-round.

Guided tours (in French and English) of the exterior and interior, retracing the château's history through the families who lived there and local history.
Candlelit tours are offered in July and August.
