A must-see site in Athée-sur-Cher - What to see and do at Nitray Castle:
Nitray Castle invites you to discover its rich heritage through a visit that includes the castle grounds, the Chapel , and the Cour d'Honneur (Court of Honor ). You can also stroll through a 43-hectare English-style park , designed during the First Empire, or opt for a bicycle ride to explore the Cher Valley.
Among the points of interest, you will have the opportunity to visit one of the most majestic dovecotes in Touraine, recently restored to its original state. The château has also been a wine estate since the 15th century. You will discover its vineyard and wine museum and witness a demonstration of traditional sparkling wine production .
The visit concludes with an immersive presentation on traditional trades, such as coopering and wheelwrighting , followed by a tasting of wines produced on the estate. An ideal place to combine culture, history, and sensory pleasure.

Hours of operation
- From June 1st to September 30th, every day from 9am to 12pm and from 2pm to 6pm, except Sunday morning.
- From October 1st to May 31st, for groups only by appointment.
- For the restaurant: from June 1st to September 30th, Tuesday to Saturday lunch from 12:00 to 14:00 and Friday evening from 19:00.

- Self-guided tour: €6.
- Guided tours for groups: €8, with an additional €2 for interior visits. Guided tours available by reservation for groups of 15 or more, in French, English, and Spanish.

ATHEE-SUR-CHER This exceptional 15th and 16th-century architectural ensemble, with its chapel and dovecote, flower garden and kitchen garden, as well as its large English-style park, is the starting point for the most romantic of walks. After your visit, the château lends you a bicycle to follow one of the most beautiful trails in Touraine, once frequented by Chopin, Balzac, and George Sand. An approximately one-hour route combining poetry and discovery. Nitray is also a renowned wine estate.
