Located near the <strong data-start=\"1022\" data-end=\"1041\">Via Domitia<\/strong> , an ancient road linking Italy to Spain, the villa was inhabited for over six centuries, from the end of the 1st century BC to the 6th century AD.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1201\" data-end=\"1510\"> Excavations carried out over more than 30 years have revealed the evolution of this agricultural site, which over the centuries became a large patrician villa, complete with baths and a port. Viticulture played a central role, and pottery workshops produced amphorae for transporting wine.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1512\" data-end=\"1785\"> At the end of Antiquity, the villa was transformed into a veritable small palace, with a floor adorned with polychrome mosaics. These mosaics are one of the highlights of the visit, representing an exceptional blend of cultural influences ranging from Aquitaine to Syria.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1787\" data-end=\"2153\"> The <strong data-start=\"1790\" data-end=\"1799\">museum<\/strong> presents these mosaics in their original context, with a 1000 m\u00b2 building dedicated to their protection and display. Visitors can walk along walkways offering a panoramic view of the ancient residence.
