Built around 1560 by Fran\u00e7ois de Chenu, this ch\u00e2teau boasts a graceful fa\u00e7ade with pilasters and a large grey slate roof, making it a fine example of the architecture of the period.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"694\" data-end=\"1059\"> The castle has a tumultuous history, particularly during the Wars of Religion, when the Chenu family, devout Catholics loyal to the king, faced violent clashes. This turbulent past is reflected in the fa\u00e7ade overlooking the Arman\u00e7on River, which exudes a certain majesty. The moats that surround the castle today bear witness to this era.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1061\" data-end=\"1276\"> In the 17th century, the castle was acquired by the Clugny family, then, after the Revolution, it became the property of the Marquise de Laguiche, who made some improvements, including the removal of a fortified outer courtyard.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1278\" data-end=\"1771\"> During the tour, you will discover <strong data-start=\"1318\" data-end=\"1336\">vaulted rooms<\/strong> on the lower level, including the <strong data-start=\"1381\" data-end=\"1393\">kitchens<\/strong> and an <strong data-start=\"1400\" data-end=\"1432\">exceptional interior well<\/strong> . One of the bedrooms features <strong data-start=\"1634\" data-end=\"1667\">Venetian Revival furnishings<\/strong> , while another is distinguished by its harmonious octagonal layout and rare <strong data-start=\"1748\" data-end=\"1770\">star-patterned floor<\/strong> .<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1773\" data-end=\"2052\"> The <strong data-start=\"1777\" data-end=\"1788\">outbuildings<\/strong> , used as <strong data-start=\"1805\" data-end=\"1816\">stables<\/strong> and <strong data-start=\"1820\" data-end=\"1830\">kennels<\/strong> , along with a stone-paved <strong data-start=\"1844\" data-end=\"1861\">granary<\/strong> , add to the charm of this ch\u00e2teau.
