Maison Carr\u00e9e de Nay – Cultural Tours<\/strong><\/p>\n

The Maison Carr\u00e9e in Nay<\/strong> , a remarkable historical building, invites you to discover its inner courtyard<\/strong> and Renaissance gallery<\/strong> . This iconic location immerses you in the architecture of the period and allows you to experience the unique atmosphere of this historic monument.<\/p>\n

The Maison Carr\u00e9e, whose real name is Maison Bonasse<\/strong> , was built in the second half of the 16th century at the request of Fran\u00e7ois de B\u00e9arn-Bonasse, son-in-law of Pedro Sacaze, a wealthy merchant from Nay who had settled in Zaragoza. One of the few Renaissance buildings in B\u00e9arn, the Maison Carr\u00e9e in Nay is unique in Aquitaine with its Italianate loggias on four levels on the west side and three on the east. Discover the architecture and decor of a noble house inspired by Renaissance ch\u00e2teaux. The tour also reveals the daily life of the very wealthy bourgeoisie through period furniture, rich silk and velvet fabrics, 16th-century tableware, and more. It also evokes the turbulent era of the Wars of Religion and the war captains, such as Fran\u00e7ois de B\u00e9arn-Bonasse.<\/p>\n

The Maison Carr\u00e9e in Nay now houses a museum recounting its history and that of Nay, which also hosts temporary exhibitions and cultural events.<\/p>\n
